A TOURIST, A FRIEND

“We welcome all tourists with open arms” is the message that the Mayor of Calvia, Juan Antonio Amengual, and his team will be taking to London next month for the all important World Travel Market tourism trade fair. “There is no place for so-called tourismphobia in Calvia,” said the mayor, who underlined this fact in a series of interviews last summer with the British, Spanish and German media. Calvia council is heading to London with a promotional video which emphasises the joys of the municipality and the fact that tourists are more than welcome. Next October, Magalluf will be hosting the annual convention of the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA). It will be the first time that this event has been staged in Mallorca for 14 years. Also, building work has started this month on the new promenade in Magalluf. This will also give the resort a major lift, its transformation having been ongoing for some twelve years now.
